Malva pudding is so much more than just a dessert!
Birdy here's theory is that Malva is a fairly simple dessert to begin with - but it's all those extra touches that differ depending on the chef's mood (and what's in the cupboard) which consistently make it downright one of the yummiest things ever... You know those extra nuts, dates, warmed custard, a tot of whiskey if you're really feeling daring.
So when Birdy discovered there's a new shop in town called, you guessed... Malva - it sort of got us, err, salivating!
Malva is more than just a shop (in line with its pud's namesake). It's the ultimate base for creativity - again much like the pud!
In fact, Malva's exactly like the quirky shops you find in Long Street - you know the kind, where you can buy anything from amazing photography to a designer jacket that's going to inspire true frienvy among the girls? And believe it or not, you may even come across a few nuts and a toot of whiskey in their bakery section!
This Bird got into a bit of a frenzy in our new treasure trove. Of course we had to try on a dress or two...but then what's an outfit without great accessories? Which meant more trying on of rings and earrings. Our finale was nothing other than a steaming Americano with a brownie that would make Mr Lindt feel jealous.
Malva regularly puts on pop up theatre shows and all kinds of other events to keep creative variety in the mix, making sure that there's something new and novel every time you visit.
Now we wonder if they'll actually start serving Malva pudding?
In the meantime, move over pudding... there's a new Malva in town!
